Midellamullahena is a beautiful piece of land situated just 50km away from the capital of Sri Lanka. This picturesque village is surrounded by a number beautiful mountains blessed with lush greenery and enjoys cool climatic conditions.
Whoever visits this village for the first time may feel that the people who live here are the most fortunate in the world who enjoys unpolluted charms of Mother Nature.
Unfortunately the facts are not as pleasant as it seems to be. It is sad to say that the people who live here are plagued with extreme poverty levels. They are indeed helpless and suffer without the very basic needs of a human being. We found out that these villages lack proper shelter, safe drinking water electricity and proper sanitation facilities just to name a few. It is visible that polythene is the most widely used material as shelter and to cover up roofs of small huts where they live and toilets etc. This village does not have a proper storage facility of water as a result the villagers have to walk miles for there drinking water. The few pictures attached to this article may elaborate more on the sad state of life and poor conditions of the villagers living there.
Lions Club of Nedimala together with 7 other clubs in the region 2, of the International Association of Lions Club District 306 A2, has taken a remarkable step towards the upliftment of the standard of living of the villagers of Midellamullahena.
